With many worried about the future of the US government after the election of Donald Trump to the presidency, some are looking to who the president elect picks to be his closest advisors as an indication of what the next for years could hold. According to Politico, the republican establishment has been emphatic about their choice for Trump’s chief of staff, Reince Priebus. Priebus is a seasoned washingtonian and close ally of House Speaker Paul Ryan. This could provoke dissent from Trump’s base, however, many of whom voted for the businessman because of his promise to , quote, “drain the swamp” of Washington. Another choice might be Stephen Bannon, head Breitbart News and CEO of trump’s poltical campaign. Bannon’s ties to the alt-right may please voters but he is a divisive figure in Washington and has house speaker paul ryan as quote “the enemy”.
