Michigan police officer Michael Peters who was suspended after flying a Confederate flag from his truck during a Trump protest has resigned. Peters turned in his resignation Monday evening and apologized to the community “for the stain he put on the city” and its police department. Peters was suspended with pay after he was witnessed Friday driving the truck with the flag near a group protesting the election of Donald Trump as president. Peters was also seen drinking beer in a restricted parking area. He had previously parked the truck with the flag in the police department’s lot.
